3-3 Program

3-3 Program

What The Program Is
The 3-3 Program combines a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity in partnership with either of two undergraduate institutions and Sioux Falls Seminary. It involves three years of study at the University of Sioux Falls or Dakota Wesleyan University and three years of study at Sioux Falls Seminary.

The 3-3 Program is an accelerated program for the student of high ability. It can reduce by one year the time required to complete university and seminary training. Students must maintain an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 to be eligible for the program.

Eligibility
This unique program is open to you if...

  • You are a mature, better-than-average student
  • You are committed to entering a church-related career
  • You plan to study at Sioux Falls Seminary

How The Program Works
You then begin your studies by becoming a regular full-time student at one of the undergraduate institutions. At the same time, you apply for pre-enrollment at Sioux Falls Seminary. Near the end of your third year of undergraduate study, you finalize your admission to the seminary.

You then begin your studies at the seminary in the regular Master of Divinity program. Upon completion of your first year of seminary studies, you receive the Bachelor of Arts degree from your undergraduate institution. At the end of the sixth year, when two more years of theological studies and the required number of hours have been completed, you receive the Master of Divinity degree from Sioux Falls Seminary.

How To Get Started
A student enters the program by becoming a full-time student at one of the participating undergraduate institutions.

If you have not been accepted at one of the participating undergraduate institutions, you should:

  • start your application process with the undergraduate school and apply for pre-enrollment at Sioux Falls Seminary.

If you have already begun your education at one of the participating schools, you should:

  • begin the application process for pre-enrollment at Sioux Falls Seminary and speak with the advisor of the religion department at your school to make sure your credits are on track for the 3-3 program at NABS.

Requirements
A 3.25 or better GPA in the required undergraduate study
A 2.25 or better GPA in seminary

Suggested Undergraduate Courses
Each participating school will have different requirements for the undergraduate portion of the 3-3 program. Students may want to take advantage of a program of traditional liberal arts courses, particularly in the humanities and social sciences. This course of study would provide a broad background conducive to success in seminary and the ministry. Study in many of the following subjects is recommended:

  • English Literature and Composition
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • The Fine Arts
  • Biblical and modern languages
  • Religion
