Should I Attend

Every person's story is different and so is their call to ministry. Determining whether or not ministry is the direction God has for you is a big decision. To assist you in the decision to apply to graduate theological education at Sioux Falls Seminary we have put together a personal survey that may be useful to you. Listed below are questions and scripture you can spend time meditating on before you continue your search for a seminary and as you determine whether or not vocational ministry is God's direction for your life.

If you have further questions, or would like to talk more about how God might be calling you, please feel free to contact us a 1-800-440-6227 or email admissions@sfseminary.edu

  • Are you ready to more deeply understand who God is?
  • Are you prepared to open and examine yourself in order to know better who you are in light of who God is?
  • Have you come to a place in your life where you are willing to truly be open to knowing and receiving the best God has for you and in turn giving God's best to those around you?
  • Have you felt that you could contribute to the Christian leadership around you?
  • Are you at a place in your life where you will be ready to be developed and mentored by Christian leaders around you as you serve in Christian leadership?
  • Are you open to God's leading even if it is in a way that you had not considered previously?

Scripture to read:
Exodus 3-4, Judges 6, I Samuel 3, Isaiah 6, Isaiah 40, Isaiah 59, Jonah, Jeremiah 1, Ezekiel 1-3, Amos 7, The Gospels,, Acts 9, and Acts 15

  • Has God captured your attention in some way?

  • Reflect on your view of God, your "theology" and how it contributes to your life or sense of "call to ministry."

  • What instructions do you think God has given or is giving to you based upon the objective source of the Bible?

  • What instructions may be coming from more subjective sources, e.g. some other means of revelation?

  • Moses objected God's call four different times in 4 different ways (Exodus 3:11, 3:14, 4:1, 4:10). Reflect on your objections to how you think God is leading you. What are they? Do you receive answers to them? What is your attitude about how God is leading you?

  • Has God given any signs to confirm his direction for your life?

  • Reflect on what it means to you to respond in obedience.
