Requirements

Admission to Sioux Falls Seminary rests upon the following considerations:

  • Faith in Jesus Christ as the foundation of life and ministry

  • Christian character as evidenced by a moral life and confirmed by the church and pastoral leadership

  • Call to Christian service and exercise of gifts for ministry as explained in a statement from the applicant and confirmed by the church

  • Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution with a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (3.0 for Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy applicants). An applicant holding a baccalaureate degree from a non-accredited institution may be considered for provisional admission.

Sioux Falls Seminary reserves the right to draw conclusions about the evangelical, Christian profession of all applicants on the basis of statements of Christian faith given in the application.

The seminary also reserves the right to admit or deny admission to applicants when necessary to insure that the mission and purpose of Sioux Falls Seminary are maintained. The admissions committee may deny acceptance into any of the degree programs without giving specific reasons for denial to the applicant.

Sioux Falls Seminary admits students of any race, gender, color, nationality, or ethnic origin to all programs and activities made available to students of the seminary. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, color nationality or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, loan programs or other seminary administered programs.

Degree Equivalency and Exemption
Equivalency: Students who have not completed baccalaureate degrees, but are able to demonstrate through other means that they possess the qualities and skills necessary to complete graduate level work and have a readiness for ministry, may be admitted on the basis of equivalency.  Equivalency does not grant a bachelor’s degree.

Exemption: Undergraduate Degree Exemption is ideal for those who do not meet the requirements for equivalency but still show the potential for ministry and aptitude for graduate level work.  A limited number of students may be considered for this option.

Application Details: Please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@sfseminary.edu or call us at 1-800-440-6227 to learn more about the special application process and requirements for Equivalency and Exemption.  The application deadline is April 30 for fall and August 31 for spring enrollment.
