Planned Giving

Planned Giving at Sioux Falls Seminary has for many years provided the resources needed to train individuals to go out in service to Christ.

Consider the Possibilities
Take a few moments to think about the best ways to make your gifts.

Gifts of Cash:
Gifts of cash, check, or credit card are the most popular methods of giving. Such gifts are convenient and can be tax deductible.

Other Property:
Gifts may also be funded with assets such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds that have increased in value. You may not only receive regular tax savings, but you entirely avoid the capital gains tax on qualified assets given for charitable use.

Leave a Legacy:
Many discover that their long-range estate and financial plans provide a thoughtful way to make gifts. Leaving a legacy can provide lasting memories. The Leadership Foundation is a member of the National Leave a Legacy Program. This program is designed for individuals or families that wish to set up a scholarship or operating endowment by selecting a variety of gifting options. The most commonly used planned gifts are the charitable remainder unitrust or a designation in your will or living trust. Gifts of cash, stocks/bonds or any appreciated property may be gifted toward a named endowment.

Gifts of Life Insurance:
By making the seminary the owner and beneficiary of a new policy, the premiums are tax deductible. Life insurance you now have in force and feel you no longer need may have substantial cash value that can be gifted at any time. A gift of life insurance can have a large charitable impact, at a low cost.

Gifts that Provide Income:
Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Gift Annuities are a great way to enhance your giving and your income. You may designate regular payments for life or another period of time.

Charitable Remainder Trusts return rates are usually around 6.5%. Payments can be made on a monthly, quarterly, every 6 months or on an annual basis. Charitable Remainder Trusts (C.R.T.'s) are a very good way to set aside funds that can supplement your income. Trusts allow the naming of one or more beneficiary.

Charitable Gift Annuities rates are set according to the age of the annuitant when the annuity is set up. Annuities provide excellent and secure income. They vary from C.R.T.'s in that return rates are generally higher and that annuities are backed by any assets of the organization underwriting the annuity. Rates for annuities are set by the American Council on Gift Annuities.

Charitable tax deductions make annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts extremely popular. We would be pleased to provide you with additional information.
